Carmen Sandra Wyss Freie Traurednerin, wedding work in Ibiza

Carmen Sandra Wyss

Celebrant

Carmen Sandra Wyss is a half-Swiss, half-Spanish celebrant who grew up on Ibiza and returns to lead symbolic ceremonies for German-speaking couples. She is based in Switzerland and works with her husband Roland, a celebrant and wedding DJ.

What they do

Carmen Sandra Wyss is a freelance celebrant (a freie Traurednerin) based in the Aargau and Zurich area of Switzerland. She is half Swiss and half Spanish and grew up on Ibiza, and she has returned many times to lead ceremonies on the island. Most of her couples speak German. She works with her husband Roland Wyss, who is also a celebrant and a wedding DJ.

The ceremonies are symbolic: they have no civil legal standing, so the legal marriage happens separately. See our guide to the symbolic ceremony.

Her ceremonies

Carmen writes each ceremony after getting to know the couple and their story. She leads in German or Spanish, Swiss German included, and her Ibiza page says Italian or English elements are possible. Roland can lead in English or bilingually. They can work alone or as a pair, with the couple's story told as a dialogue. A typical running order is the entrance, the love story, the vows, the exchange of rings and the exit.

She makes a point of visiting the location the day before, which matters on Ibiza, where rural fincas often have no street sign or number.

Weddings in the Balearics

The pair travel together to Ibiza, Mallorca and Formentera. Because there are two of them, one can step in if the other falls ill. Travel and fee are agreed as a fixed price before the wedding. They take only a limited number of weddings abroad each season, so book early.

Good to know

  • Prices are not published; ask through the contact form.
  • Roland can provide DJ music from the ceremony through to the party.
  • Their Ibiza article describes a ceremony at a small finca near Sant Josep.
