A boat and beach weekend puts the sea at the centre of an Ibiza wedding: a sunset catamaran as the welcome party, the wedding at a beach club the next evening, and a day on Formentera to finish. It suits 30 to 80 guests who came for the water and are happy to spend three days in swimwear between the formal moments.

This timeline is set in mid-June, when sunset is about 21:20 and the days are long and dry. September works as well with every evening time about 75 minutes earlier; the seasons and weather guide has the sunsets by month.

The boat needs a licensed operator and a land plan. Ibiza Boat Club runs catamarans for groups of 15 to 320 from Platja d'en Bossa, with wedding boat parties from €8,000 (2025). For the wedding itself, choose a beach club with its own terrace and a stated closing time, such as Cotton Beach Club on Cala Tarida or Aiyanna Ibiza on Cala Nova: the public sand is not available for a ceremony. On Formentera, cars from Ibiza need an authorisation from 1 June to 30 September, so book local transport; the Formentera area guide and the transport guide cover the ferries and the island.

Day 01 — Day one

Sunset on the water

The welcome party is a boat trip. A party catamaran takes the whole group, with drinks, music and a swim stop, and brings everyone back after sunset.

  1. 18:15

    Shuttles to the pier

Ibiza Boat Club boards at the pier in Platja d'en Bossa. Taxis are scarce in summer, so run a shuttle from the guest hotels.

  2. 19:00

    Boarding and departure

Life jackets, a welcome drink and the safety briefing from the crew.

  3. 19:45

    Swim stop

The skipper anchors on sand or a buoy, never on the posidonia seagrass, which Balearic law protects.

  4. 21:20

    Sunset on board

Mid-June sunset, with the boat turned to the west.

  5. 22:00

    Back at the pier

Shuttles to Ibiza Town for a late dinner, or back to the hotels.

Agree a land plan with the operator: wind can cancel a sailing at short notice.

Day 02 — Day two

The wedding at a beach club

A beach club with its own terrace gives you the sea without the permits a ceremony on the public sand would need. Keep the middle of the day quiet: June averages 26.8 °C, July and August pass 29 °C.

Cotton Beach Club: Long table under the white pergola facing the sea and a rocky islet
  1. 12:00

    A slow morning

Late breakfast, then getting ready indoors. Nobody needs a sunburn in the wedding photos.

  2. 18:15

    Guest shuttles leave the hotels

Cove venues sit at the bottom of narrow roads; ask the club which vehicles reach the door.

  3. 19:00

    Ceremony on the club's terrace

A symbolic ceremony facing the sea, about two hours before sunset. At Cotton Beach Club, above Cala Tarida, the terrace takes up to 140.

  4. 19:30

    Drinks above the beach

Canapés on the terrace, photos on the rocks below while the light is warm.

  5. 21:00

    Dinner as the sun sets

Sunset at about 21:20, over the sea on the west coast.

  6. 22:30

    Speeches and first dance

On the terrace, before the outdoor cut-off.

  7. 00:00

The party moves to the lounge

Each beach club has its own licence and closing time. Cotton Beach Club's terrace closes at 00:00 and the lounge carries on until 02:00; Aiyanna Ibiza closes outdoors at 00:00 and indoors at 02:00.

Confirm the music times in the contract when you book.

  8. 02:00

    Last shuttle back

From the club door to the guest hotels.

Day 03 — Day three

Formentera

Formentera is 30 minutes away by fast ferry, and a long lunch on its beaches is the gentlest way to end the weekend. From 1 June to 30 September, cars from Ibiza need an authorisation to enter the island, so plan to travel without them.

Es Molí de Sal: Table on the terrace with sailing boats in the bay
  1. 10:30

    Shuttle to Ibiza port

Or to the pier, if you charter a boat for the group.

  2. 11:00

    Fast ferry to La Savina

About 30 minutes. A chartered catamaran takes longer but swims on the way.

  3. 11:45

    Minibus to the beach

Book a minibus or taxis on Formentera in advance; guests should leave their hire cars in Ibiza.

  4. 13:30

    Long lunch by the sea

Es Molí de Sal on Ses Illetes, in a restored salt mill inside the ses Salines Natural Park, or a beach restaurant on Migjorn.

  5. 16:30

Swim, then back to the port

Check the last ferry in the timetable for your date.

  6. 18:30

    Back in Ibiza

Goodbyes at the port, and transfers for anyone flying out.

Planning notes

  • — Book boats early: the best charters go fast in July and August.
  • — Have a plan B for wind: the sea can cancel a boat day at short notice.
