In short

  • Ibiza airport has direct flights from across Europe; there are no direct flights from the US.
  • Hold room blocks at two or three hotels at different prices, near the venue.
  • The Balearic tourist tax is charged per person per night; under-16s are exempt.
  • Winter flight schedules are thin: the island is mostly closed from November to April.

Your guests are travelling for you, so make it easy. This is what to put in the welcome email.

Flights

Ibiza airport (IBZ) handled a record of more than nine million passengers in 2025, almost all on European routes. From most European cities it is a two to three-hour flight, with low-cost and charter airlines in summer.

There are no direct flights from the United States. Guests from the US usually connect through Madrid, Barcelona, London or another European hub. Schedules thin out sharply from November to Easter.

Where to stay

  • Ibiza Town and Marina Botafoch: walkable, restaurants and nightlife, ten to fifteen minutes from the airport.
  • Santa Eulària: calmer and family-friendly.
  • The north: close to the finca venues, quiet, best with a car or shuttle.
  • Sant Antoni: sunset bars and budget hotels; lively in high summer.

Hold room blocks at two or three hotels at different price points, as close to the venue as you can. For a villa wedding, keep the core group under one roof and put everyone else nearby. See areas.

The tourist tax

The Balearic Islands charge a sustainable tourism tax (impuesto de turismo sostenible) per person, per night, collected by the hotel or holiday rental. In high season it is a few euros a night depending on the category of accommodation; children under 16 are exempt and the rate halves from the ninth night. Increases have been proposed, so tell guests to check the current rate with their accommodation.

Getting around

Taxis are scarce in July and August. Book shuttles for every wedding-day movement and tell guests the exact times. See transport.

Things to do

  • A walk through Dalt Vila, the walled old town
  • The hippy markets at Las Dalias (Sant Carles) or Punta Arabí (Es Canar)
  • A winery visit in Sant Mateu d'Albarca
  • Ball pagès folk dancing on Thursday evenings in summer in the square at Sant Miquel
  • A boat day to Formentera
  • And, after the wedding, the clubs
