A rustic finca wedding in Ibiza takes place at an old country estate: a whitewashed farmhouse with sabina-wood beams, a ceremony among olive or almond trees, and dinner at long tables under the stars. Most of the styling is already there, so the job is to add tables, light and food rather than to build a set.

This page covers what makes an Ibiza finca different, the colours and greenery that suit it, the estates that host weddings, how to dress the tables, and the practical rules on permission, music and fire that matter more at a finca than anywhere else.

Chapter 1

What makes it Ibiza

The Ibicenco farmhouse, the casa payesa, is built from white cubes added over generations, with thick walls that keep the rooms cool and flat roofs that once collected rainwater. Around it sit dry-stone terraces of olive, carob, almond and fig trees. Several of the estates that host weddings today are 150 to 350 years old.

Many fincas are now agroturismo hotels, where staying on site is part of the plan. A finca wedding often becomes a weekend: arrival drinks, the wedding day, and a lunch by the pool the day after. Our three-day wedding weekend shows how that usually runs.

Chapter 2

Colours and flowers

The palette comes from the farm: whitewash, olive green, natural wood, terracotta and straw. Flowers stay simple and local in feel. Olive branches, rosemary and other herbs make table runners that cost little and survive the heat. Lavender suits early summer, sunflowers suit July and August, and dried wheat and grasses work in any month.

Fruit makes good decoration in late summer. Figs and pomegranates on the tables from August to October look right at a farmhouse, and guests can eat them. Ask your florist which stems are local in your month; many cut flowers come from mainland Spain.

Can Gall is a restored finca of more than 350 years, held only when the whole hotel is booked. Ca Na Xica puts the ceremony in a pine wood and dinner in an olive-tree patio. Agroturismo Atzaró has three ceremony gardens on a 13-hectare estate of orange groves. Can Frare is a 300-year-old farmhouse on 12 hectares above the bay, and Can Skye is a finca of about 150 years with dinner under the vines.

Tables, light and details

Long wooden tables without cloths, or with a plain linen runner, suit a finca best. Mix in benches for the ceremony, and set a lounge corner with rugs and old armchairs near the bar. Island hire companies stock vintage and up-cycled furniture, and one also rents VIP toilet trailers for fincas without enough bathrooms.

Food can be part of the look: a paella cooked in front of guests, a grill, or sharing platters passed down the table. For light, string festoon bulbs between trees, put lanterns along paths and use candles in glass on the tables.

Chapter 5

Clothes and the dress code

A finca dress code is usually smart and relaxed: linen suits, summer dresses and flat or block heels. Gravel paths, lawns and old stone steps are common, so warn guests about thin heels. Inland valleys can be a few degrees warmer by day and cooler at night than the coast, so a shawl helps in May and October.

Chapter 6

Good to know

Permission comes first at a private villa. The owner must allow events in writing, and since Ley 1/2025 every holiday-rental contract in the Balearics must forbid parties that break neighbourhood rules, so a wedding needs that permission spelled out. Get the guest limit and music time in the contract. Outdoor music at fincas often stops at 23:00 or soon after, so check whether there is an indoor room or sound-proofed space for later.

Fire matters in the countryside. From 1 May to 15 October, fire within 500 m of woodland needs authorisation under Decree 125/2007, and most fincas are close to pine woods. That covers open-fire cooking, candles in the open and fireworks; don't plan sky lanterns. Our guides to rules and permits and seasons and weather give the detail.

Questions

What is a finca in Ibiza?

A finca is a country estate with an old farmhouse, called a casa payesa on Ibiza. Traditional ones have thick whitewashed walls, flat roofs, sabina-wood beams and terraces of olive, almond, carob and fig trees. Many have been restored as agroturismo hotels or private villas, and some of them host weddings.

Can we have a wedding at any finca in Ibiza?

No. A private villa needs the owner's written permission for an event, and since Ley 1/2025 every holiday-rental contract in the Balearics must forbid parties that break neighbourhood rules. Agroturismo hotels such as Can Gall, Ca Na Xica and Agroturismo Atzaró offer weddings openly. Ask any villa for event permission and a guest limit in writing before you sign.

How many guests can a finca wedding in Ibiza have?

It depends on the estate. Can Frare is licensed for up to 75 guests and Can Skye Ibiza offers weddings of up to 80. Ca Na Xica seats 90 to 240, Fincadelica seats 230 on its lawn, and Agroturismo Atzaró seats up to 450 with its gardens. Fewer guests can usually sleep on site than attend.

What time does the music stop at an Ibiza finca wedding?

Often earlier than at a hotel. Can Frare stops loud music at 23:45 and Ca Na Xica moves inside at 23:00. Agroturismo Atzaró allows its outdoor Chill area until 00:00 and its sound-proofed Mini Club until 02:00. Noise rules in most Ibiza municipalities tighten from 23:00, so plan an indoor space for a later party.
