Nicola & Nigel at Church ceremony and hotel rooftop (hotel not named)
By the Ibiza Wedding Inspiration editorial team · Updated 23 October 2026
After the pandemic ended their plans for Cyprus, Nicola and Nigel married in an Ibiza church and celebrated on a hotel rooftop above the sea. Pampas, blush flowers and gold chairs gave it a clean, classic boho look.
The couple
Nicola and Nigel first planned to marry in Cyprus. The pandemic forced them to postpone, and when they started again they chose Ibiza, a place that already meant a lot to them. Their wedding mixed two things that are often kept apart: a traditional religious ceremony and a modern, high-end reception with a view of the sea. Planned by Bliss Ibiza Weddings, the brief was to make it romantic and to keep the guests entertained.
The ceremony
The couple married in a whitewashed island church with a gilded altarpiece inside, its aisle lined with candles, greenery and white flowers. Afterwards they posed in front of the tall wooden doors of the church; the gallery also includes both a classic white car and a modern white sports car. For the steps involved in a church wedding on the island, see church and religious ceremonies.
Dinner and party
The reception moved to the rooftop of a luxury hotel with a pool and a wide view over the sea. The styling was clean and bohemian: pampas grass and soft blush flowers as centrepieces, white tableware, and gold chairs that stood out against the blue of the water. Parasols kept the afternoon sun off the tables.
When it came to the cake, a champagne tower stood alongside it. The cake was a minimalist two-tier design in white, with a subtle pattern and white roses. The dancing went on well into the night.
The details
Nicola's dress was backless, with lace and fine detailing. The couple asked for classic, clean photography and plenty of black and white, and the result has the look of film stills, from the church to the rooftop to the dance floor. The wedding was later featured in Vogue and Tatler.
- Pampas and blush flowers instead of an all-white scheme
- Gold chairs with white linen and tableware
- A champagne tower beside a simple two-tier cake
- Black-and-white photography for much of the day
Good to know
A church ceremony followed by a hotel reception is one of the simplest ways to combine tradition with a party: the church sets the formal tone and the hotel takes care of catering, bar and guest rooms. On a rooftop, plan for the sun in the afternoon and the wind at night; parasols and weighted centrepieces help with both. If your plans have already been postponed once, as theirs were, check what your venue contract says about changing dates.
