An all-white rooftop wedding at Nobu Ibiza Bay at Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

An all-white wedding on the rooftop of Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, with Talamanca Bay below and Dalt Vila on the horizon. Brought-in linen, chairs and lighting turned a clean hotel space into a ceremony, a dinner and a party.

The plan

Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay stands right on the water at Talamanca, a few minutes from Ibiza Town. The hotel's style is Japanese-influenced minimalism softened by the Mediterranean, and its rooftop takes in the whole bay, the open sea and the old walled town of Dalt Vila on the skyline. This wedding, planned by Bliss Ibiza Weddings, kept everything white and let the view supply the colour.

The ceremony

The vows were said on the rooftop, with the bay spread out below. It is a setting that needs little added, so the ceremony styling concentrated on white flowers and clear lines rather than on a large structure: white blooms along the aisle and clear chairs that almost disappear against the sky. For how vows like these fit around the legal side, see symbolic ceremonies.

Afterwards the couple slipped away for portraits while the guests stayed on the roof with cocktails and music. That hour does a lot of work at Nobu: drinks at one of the island's best-placed rooftop bars, time for the photographer to catch candid moments, and, if the timing allows, the evening light over the water.

Dinner and party

For dinner, lighting did most of the work. Soft ambient light set the tone at the table, and a separate party lighting rig changed the mood completely when the dancing began. Entertainment was chosen to move the evening along from one part to the next, from the aperitif to the last song, rather than to fill gaps.

The details

  • An all-white palette across flowers, linen and tableware
  • Hired chairs and linen instead of the hotel's standard furniture
  • Separate lighting set-ups for dinner and for the party
  • A strong sound system, which matters more than usual in an open-air space

Good to know

The rooftop suits intimate weddings of up to around 60 to 70 guests. The hotel is easy to work with and gives you a clean, neutral space, but linens, rental chairs and the design of the ceremony and tables are not included, and bringing them in is what lifts the space. Budget for lighting and sound from the start rather than treating them as extras. The hotel sits on Talamanca Bay, close to Ibiza Town and Dalt Vila.
